Remember Prey 2? That beautiful E3 trailer that showed us a game that looked nothing like the original, and was giving off a wonderful Blade Runner vibe? Well, Bethesda confirmed yesterday that they have officially stopped work on the project. Bethesda vice president Pete Hines said this about the project:
It wasn't up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It's no longer in development. That wasn't an easy decision, but it's one that won't surprise many folks given that we hadn't been talking about it.
It's unfortunate news to be sure. The original Prey was one of the earlier titles released on the Xbox 360. Though it had high expectations, the game released to mediocre reviews, and left fans expecting more. Prey 2 looked to change all that, with a new main character, new setting, and new story arc. Too bad we'll never see what Bethesda originally had planned for the franchise. Check out the original E3 2011 trailer below.
