Most of us have already heard some of the horror stories associated with free-to-play titles on the app store. One that comes to mind is the 5-year old who ran up a bill of over £1,700 playing Zombies vs. Ninjas on his mom’s iPad.
Apple hopes to curb some of this "accidental" spending by re-labeling free-to-play titles on their app store. Instead of seeing “FREE” on the download button, customers will now read “GET”.
A small change, to be sure, but “GET” certainly doesn't have the same draw to is as “FREE”. Perhaps this will reduce the amount of cheaply made free-to-play titles on iOS, making room for higher quality titles.
