Some days, it's nice to be a PC gamer. This Thursday will be one of those days.
In celebration of Overkill reaching 1.5 Million members in the Payday 2 group on Steam, they will be giving away free copies of the original Payday for 24 hours, beginning Thursday, October 16th @ 10am Pacific (1pm Eastern). Ordinarily, the game costs $15. Reviews were generally favorable for Payday when it first came out, and it currently holds a 76 score average on Metacritic. Since it's going to be free, there's really no excuse to not grab it from Steam and put it in your library. -- Source -- Ubisoft announced yesterday that their formerly last-gen only title, Assassin's Creed: Rogue will not only be releasing for the Xbox 360 and PS3, but for the PC as well. You may recall that this game takes a step away from the usual path in letting you play as Shay, an Assassin-turned-Templar, hunting down your former comrades, and features settings in the Arctic. Ubisoft also released a new trailer for the game, which you can check out below. Rogue is scheduled to launch on November 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and the PC release will be coming sometime in early 2015.
-- Source -- You have probably already heard about Star Citizen, the new space sim that is continuously breaking records for crowd-funding. With over $58 Million raised for the game thus far, many of those who donated still haven't yet seen gameplay of the simulator. Over the weekend, Chris Roberts, the creator of the game, fixed that problem. At Citizen Con this weekend, Roberts let folks see fresh gameplay from the title. Check it out below. Pretty neat huh? If you wish to check out more updates on the game, you can do so at their website.
Yesterday, PC gamers rejoiced as Final Fantasy XIII hit Steam. The popular title already had a decent run on consoles, and PC fans were happy last month when Square-Enix announced that the Lightning Trilogy was making its way to their rigs.
All of that happiness went away, however, when it was soon discovered that the 50GB download (100GB install) led to a game that had no graphical options included, and was locked at 1280x720 resolution. Steam messages boards became flooded with frustrated purchasers who felt that Square-Enix had made a major miss-step with the port. So, what were the gamers to do? Fix it themselves, of course! Less than 24 hours later, a modder known as Durante has released a mod for the game that will allow it to run in 1920x1080 resolutions and beyond. Durante has done work like this in the past, including improving the PC port of Dark Souls. If you're part of the crowd that bought the game, and wanted a fix, go ahead and click here for a link to Durante's fix. Have you ever wanted to be Captain Kirk? Commanding your crew in strategic space battles against enemy ships? Artemis lets you do just that. The game is meant to be played by 6 players. Each player assumes the role of one person on the command deck of a starship. Weapons specialist, engineering, etc, and of course, the fearless captain. Everyone sits in a room together with their own laptop, and you must work together to survive. Sounds like fun right? Well, now you and your friends can try it out for under $20 total. Artemis hit the Humble Weekly Bundle today, and I must say, if I had more people to play it with, I'd be sorely tempted. Check out the trailer/demonstration below. -- Source --
EA Origin's "On The House" promotion now gives us Dragon Age: Origins for free.
You may recall that Origins was a sleeper hit when it originally released a number of years ago, bringing in a lot of positive reviews. The free offer arrives just in time to familiarize yourself with the world of Dragon Age before the newest title in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition gets released. Better hurry up. EA's "On The House" promotions are known to disappear just as quickly as they show up. If you want the game, better head over there now. -- Source -- |
