I'm not usually one for horror games, but when an Playstation announced a new title for the PS4, cryptically named P. T., and told us that there is an "interactive teaser" for said game available for free on PSN, I figured I'd give it a go. When I got home from work yesterday, I sat down in front of my TV and gave it a go.
The next two hours were the most frightening and unsettling hours I had experienced in years.
**Minor Spoilers Ahead**
The game places you in a hallway, and leaves you to figure out what to do next. The door at the end of the hallway only brings you back to the door you entered in the first place. Figuring out what to focus on in the room triggers the next sequence when you walk through the door at the other side. As you play through the teaser, the dimply lit hallway, the sounds from the old, broken down radio, and the horrifying ambient noises keep you on edge at all times. There is a warning at the beginning of the teaser that reads, "Avoid playing if you have a heart condition." All I can say is, this is probably good advice.
Now, I must admit, I'm weak willed. I didn't actually get to the very end. Not because I was too frightened, or because I just couldn't take it anymore, but because I figured the teaser was supposed to take the player about 30-45 minutes to figure out, and I was going on 2½ - 3 hours. I'm not that good at figuring out obscure puzzles in games, and because I was stuck for so long at different places in the teaser, it was starting to lose its effect.
Well, I Googled the ending and, as it turns out, it is very rewarding for those who press on through the experience. I've provided a link below to an article detailing the ending. All I can say is, well played Sony, well played.
