Playstation Now has been available for a little while now. The “Netflix for games” service grants the ability to rent and stream games directly to your TV without having to go to the store, or install anything to your system. It works great, however, the pricing scheme for the games has turned away a lot of the gamers. Yes, you can have games right there at your fingertips, but in some cases, you’re paying more for the rental than you actually would be paying to buy the game used. Due to the high rental prices, customers clamored for a subscription based model.
Well, on January 13th, they will get their wish.
Sony has just announced a subscription plan for Playstation Now. $19.99 will get you unlimited access to over 100 PS3 titles for one month, while $44.99 will grant you the same access for three months. The Playstation Blog states, "The subscription service will be available first on PS4 across North America, and will come to other PlayStation Now enabled devices in the future."
